Sister Ilive

SISTER I-LIVE – AVAILABLE FOR BOOKINGS

Sister Ilive - reggae bookingBorn and raised in the parish of Westmoreland, Jamaica, Sister I-Live discovered her passion for music at an early age. Singing in her local church and school choirs, she soon found herself performing in youth concerts, where her talent was embraced and encouraged. Inspired by these experiences, she began writing her own songs, laying the foundation for her future in music.

Music was always a central part of her life. She and her friends would gather by the beach, chanting to the rhythms of guitars and drums for hours. Many of those early melodies would later become part of her recorded works. While she loved the vibrant energy of dancehall sessions, where she would dance all night to various styles of music, her heart was drawn to the deeper, spiritual music of Nyabinghi and Rastafarian culture preferring artists like the Wailers, Peter Tosh, Bob Marley, Bunny Wailer and Toots and the Maytals.

At fourteen, Sister I-Live began reasoning with local Rastafarians, immersing herself in Nyabinghi gatherings where drumming and chanting created a powerful communal spirit. By 1973, she embraced the Rastafari way of life, growing her dreadlocks and deepening her spiritual journey.

In 1984, she relocated to California, where she fronted her own band, The Chosen Few, featuring some of the Bay Area’s toughest reggae musicians. In 1989, she formed a new band, The Elevations, and quickly gained momentum, performing at renowned venues and festivals, such as The Caribee Dance Center, Ashkenaz, The Omni, The Stone, The Last Day Saloon and major reggae festivals such as Reggae in the Park (San Francisco), Reggae in the Sun (San Jose), The Monterey Bay Reggae Festival, The Bob Marley Day Festival (Long Beach, CA), Reggae on the River in Humboldt, CA and many others. They toured the western US, Hawaii, Alaska and Canada.

In 1989 Sister I-Live released her debut album called Jah Guide under the Out of Many One label, showcasing her powerful vocals and uplifting messages of love, unity, and spiritual awakening.
Her next album was called Jealousy. This was another collection of conscious roots songs loved and appreciated by the people including songs she continues to perform on her live shows.

Sister I-Live captivate audiences with her infectious energy, dynamic performances and unwavering commitment to spreading the message of one love, one heart and one destiny and the blessings of Jah to all people. She looks forward to continuing to share the positive vibrations of her music with the world through future performances and recordings.
