
REGGAE ANGELS - NEW CD RELEASE - TURN ON THE LIGHT - AVAILABLE FOR FESTIVALS
The Reggae Angels recently released their 12th CD mid - November 2012 called Turn on the Light that is agreed to be their strongest album to date. November 17th they were top artists on the Pitzer Reggae Festival in Claremont, California where they performed a number of songs from their new album along with many of their old favorites. The Reggae Angels were well received and the vibes were high.
The Reggae Angels – the messengers – work consists of musical guidance for themselves and others towards righteous living - proverbial words and music affirming and clarifying the teachings of the prophets. Lyrically, their music is a guide toward good character, affirming positive human qualities such as love, hope, chivalry, gratitude and generosity. Over the last seventeen years The Reggae Angels have toured extensively in North America, Hawaii, Canada, South America, Europe and Africa. They have co-billed tours with Andrew Tosh, Everton Blender, Michael Rose, Don Carlos, Anthony B, Junior Reid, The Abyssinians, Sugar Minott, Warrior King, and Frankie Paul as well as touring on their own. This April / May, 2013 they are slated to tour North America with Prezident Brown. They have also performed on many of the major festivals in the U.S. and Europe. The Reggae Angels have one of the most extensive discographies of any American based Reggae acts with 12 CD’s in their catalogue. These CD’s can be purchased at Earnie B’s Reggae or through all the major online retailers. All the Reggae Angels work consists of original organic recordings with diverse arrangements and excellent musicianship. None of the 12 songs on their new album sound alike. Each song is distinct. Their last five albums were tracked live in their own recording studio in Oakland, CA called The Workshop. All of their albums have been mixed by top reggae engineers. Their last four CD’s were mixed and mastered by Jim Fox at the Lion and Fox recording Studio in Washington DC.

The name Reggae Angels more accurately refers to the Reggae Angels vocalists and music act than to the musicians who back them. Musicians have come and gone and returned over the years but there is generally a pool of top musicians called on for each musical mission. Sly and Robbie backed the Reggae Angels in 2008 prime time on Reggae on the River in Humboldt, CA. The Reggae Angels vocalists are Fenton Wardle, Cynthia Roots and Angelica Wardle, Fenton’s daughter. The lead vocalist Fenton started performing for the public at the age of twelve, playing his accordion in the streets of San Francisco. In 1982, Fenton fronted his first Reggae band called Ily, based in Hanover, New Hampshire where he attended Dartmouth College and graduated in 1984. In 1986 he formed a band in California called The Chosen Few. In 1989 the band re-grouped as The Elevations. Fenton sang lead and harmony vocals and played keyboards. In 1992 Fenton started the Reggae Angels.

Currently based in the San Francisco, CA East Bay, the Reggae Angels have been touring the last sixteen years in North America, South America, Europe, Africa, Hawaii, and Canada. Top international artists have had the Reggae Angels back them, including Don Carlos, Anthony B, Perfect, Richie Spice, Horace Andy, Michael Rose, Big Youth, The Abyssinians, Edi Fitzroy, Lutan Fyah, Carlton & The Shoes, Junior Murvin, Clinton Fearon, Everton Blender, Sugar Minott, Andrew Tosh, Shinehead, Junior Reid and Frankie Paul. The Reggae Angels vocalists are Fenton Wardle, Cynthia Roots and Brady Shamar. Lead vocalist and bandleader Fenton Wardle started playing for the public at the age of twelve, playing his accordion in the streets in San Francisco. In 1982, Fenton fronted his first band Ily, in New Hampshire, where he attended Dartmouth College and graduated in 1984. In 1986 he formed a band on the West Coast called The Chosen Few. In 1989 the band re-grouped as The Elevations. Fenton sang lead and harmony vocals and played keyboards. With the Elevations, he produced two albums- Jah Guide and Good Judgment. In 1992 Fenton left the Elevations and started the Reggae Angels.
With the Reggae Angels, Fenton has produced Guard the Honor, Jealousy, Truth and Conviction, Spirit, Signs and Wonders, Which Road Will You Choose, Live Positive, Come To Jah, Save Our Souls, A Heart With Love, Balance, Make Blessings and Prophetic Mission. Augustus Pablo is featured playing melodica and synthesizer on the earlier works, adding his melodious far eastern sound. The early mixing was done in Jamaica with some of the top engineers there including Sylvan Morris, David Rowe, Soljie, Dr. Marshall and Hugh Palmer. Scientist mixed the next four CDs in Los Angeles and the San Francisco Bay Area. Their subsequent albums, Balance, Make Blessingsand Prophetic Mission were mixed at Lion and Fox recording studios, in Washington DC by Jim Fox.
